So a funny thing happened this year for my birthday ~ four of my friends gave me the same gift unbeknownst to them ~ I received four necklac...
Bday Gifts: The Year of the Necklace
Andrew my husband gave me a pink elephant necklace complete with martini glass because I like cocktails (and a subscription to Fangoria. Yep, Fangoria is publishing a paper copy of their magazine again! Whoot! You can read about my history with them here.)
This necklace is from Atomic Crush Design. If you're into memorializing your cat on the epitome of Mid Century Modern kitsch in a mosaic gravel wall panel, this is the place for you! They do custom work and have some pieces pre-made for immediate sale. Their works are expertly detailed to look like vintage pieces. I may have one made of my Ginger someday, but for now I'll settle for a whimsical necklace.
Samples of what they offer...
"Hey babe, what's your sign?" "I'm a crab and a cancer to everyone that knows me, so stay away!" Check out this vintage crab necklace. It represents my personality quite nicely.
My dear friend Coffin Kitsch gave me this fun Freddy Krueger pin and necklace from Zanti (aka Chris Orlando) you can find him at horror conventions and comic cons. The pieces are original designs cast in pewter. So cool. The pin immediately found a home on my jean jacket.
Finally a cat necklace and earring set. Let me tell you it's really hard to find tiki cat things, but this Bosco designed cat is the perfect combo. The glass beads are so sparkly it looks like there's lights behind them!
Oh and if anyone was wondering in the Chinese Zodiac I was born in the Year of the Dragon. One of the traits of Dragons is that we attract people who are elegant, intelligent, and understanding. It's true my friends are awesome. Cheers to another year!
Ok, so maybe you've been following along, if not let me get you up to speed. My best friend Ginger Rogers Kitty died in February . It...
Ginger's Shrine & Her Stuff
Ok, so maybe you've been following along, if not let me get you up to speed. My best friend Ginger Rogers Kitty died in February. It's difficult to mourn her loss because I can't find comfort in friends since I'm quarantining with COVID out in the world. All I do is go to work, go food shopping, and go home. The evenings are the worst because that's when she would hang out with me and sit on my lap non-stop. She'd even sit on my lap while I ate dinner. Not because she wanted food, just because she liked it there. I miss her daily. I've read you can find comfort in making a tribute to anyone that has passed. So get ready to see my Ginger Shrine!
It started with four shelves in my front room dedicated to The Teenie Weens aka Ginger. The bottom shelf has a wood box with her ashes inside (they came in a black baggie), and a whisker catcher. We didn't know whisker catchers existed until she passed, otherwise we would have collected them all along. After she was gone we frantically scoured our house for any sign of a Ginger whisker. We even moved around furniture, rugs, and dug a little through the vacuum bag just to keep a tiny piece of her.
The next shelf has my favorite picture of her with an envelope of all the cards we received when she passed. The picture is close to life-size but still a little too big to be her.
The second from the top shelf has her paw print that was given to us by the vet and a picture of her curled up.
I really enjoyed unboxing the Glamour Ghoul Boxes . The owner took a break for a few years ~ my last unboxing was November 2018 ~ but now s...
It's BACCCKKKKKK (& so is Jodee Bowie)! ~ Glamour Ghoul Bat Box
I really enjoyed unboxing the Glamour Ghoul Boxes. The owner took a break for a few years ~ my last unboxing was November 2018 ~ but now she's back! I had to get the inaugural box, AND it's bat themed. Yes, yes I opened a bat themed box before, but really you can't have too many bats! My friend Jodee Bowie joined me for the unboxing. There's a video, but please be gentle, we are way out of practice. A couple of things after watching...
~ I forgot to look at the camera most of the time.
~ Watch the WHOLE thing because I name two giveaways I am doing. One of them starts today 2/10/2022!
~ We learn Jodee likes "sexy" books.
There's quite a lot of products in a small box!
1. Bat zipper bag by Gorejess Labratory. I have a necklace from her too!
2. Bookmark from Little Black Bats. Super nicely packaged.
3. Red bat wing hair clips from Bow So Creepy. She makes earrings too!
6. Cute black and white striped soap "It's Fricken Bats" with bats on the top from The Painted Cat. It's nice because it's not overly scented.
7. Bat necklace from Murderous Jewels. It's lightweight and delicate, I can layer it with my other bat necklace from her.
All in all, I'd say this was a great box. I always like finding new independent small businesses in these boxes. Looking forward to The Crow one in March. Stay tuned and remember it can't rain all the time.

The May Horror Block Box came a little late this time around, but it was worth it. I think it's the best one so far, better than March...
My Third Horror Block!
1. A Lost Boys T shirt! I really love their Ts, the graphics are well thought out and this one is no exception! I wrote about The Lost Boys a few months ago, you can read it here.
2. An exclusive Carrie Blood Splatter umbrella. I love useful things and you can't go wrong with an umbrella.
4. Blood Bag. It is not soap, I repeat it is NOT SOAP! It's a freezer pack. How funny to keep this in a refrigerator.
5. Rue Morgue: Women with Guts Magazine. I'm SO happy that women are finally being recognized for their contributions to the horror genre. And SURPRISE women like horror too. (duh)
6. Burn the Rabbit download and autographed card. I think this is a cool idea. Burn the Rabbit is a sequel to the Rabbit in Red book by Joe Chianakas which I need to check out. I've only heard really good things about it.
7. Penny Dreadful comic book. I'm looking forward to continuing the story of Vanessa Ives.
8. Nerd Block Box Magazine. I enjoyed the letter from the Lead Buyer of Horror Block, Jenna Myers. In my past life ~ working in the arts ~ one of my jobs was product development. It's really hard to predict what you think will be popular. Horror Block Box has lots of exclusives that I imagine are created by the buyers. They do a great job providing unique products to horror fans.
Overall I think this month's box was a complete winner!
p.s. I'm wearing my new Filigree Bat Necklace from Murderous Jewels and lipstick from Spoiled Lips in "Charmed" that was included in the May Glamour Ghoul Box. The necklace is a nice quality and very lightweight, the lipstick is matte and a little dry, but it stays on all day! I put it on at 9am and it was about 8:30pm when we filmed the video.
Of course I'm a fan of horror and have subscribed to the Horror Block Box , (You can see my unboxing videos here and here ), but I was ...
Glamour Ghoul Batty Box
So let's see what's included for $30 plus shipping...
1. Crazy Bat Lady Totebag from Glam Nerd Customs. According to the packing list (which I have to say it's nice that they include one) it says this tote is $14. That seems like a lot. I have the same totes at my shop and we give them away. They are no where near $14.
2. Lipstick from Spoiled Lips in "Charmed". Dries thick, a really nice shade too. (Pictured below, along with the eye shadow.)
3. Bookmark from Gorejess Laboratory. Super cute and handy! I like useful things. ;)
4. Sticker from Bright Bat Design. They have so many other adorable designs too!
5. Necklace from Murderous Jewels. If this necklace wasn't enough, they even have bat earrings to match on their etsy!
6. Loose eye shadow from My Pretty Zombie in "Contagion". If you look closely, there's bats on the tub ~ adorbs. I have a hard time with loose powder because it gets everywhere, but I think if I always apply it with a primer I should be ok. This shade is crazy sparkly. I really like it.
Ok, so that's a quick summary. Now I'm off to order the July box of Classic Monsters! Thanks Glamour Ghoul!
