I have some nerve combining the thought of angelic kittens with Satan but I'm not the first one to think fluffy cute kitties can be evil. Don't get me wrong I love, love, love cats but I did have an experience with an evil cat...once.

I was cat sitting for a friend about 16 years ago. The cat was a long haired orange kitty named Joshua. (The kind you really want to pet because he's so fluffy). There was an introduction dinner to make sure he liked me, and in front of his owner Joshua was a gem! So shortly after, I stayed at my friend's apartment with her cat while she was out of town. She told me he was "shy" ~ I get shy cats. This cat was not shy, he was something else all together. As soon as my friend left, the cat disappeared under the bed. He had a strict diet and a mixture of pills I had to administer twice a day. Despite his unenthusiastic welcome, I was ready to care for this little guy!

Note: Not an actual picture Joshua, but this could be his brother.

The first couple days he only came out to eat. One of those days I had to wake up early and go to work. I was all dressed in a cute outfit, top, skirt, and tights. I put down his food and he crawled out from under the bed. Joshua took a leap at my calf with his claws, ripped my tights and latched on to my leg with his teeth! I had to kick him off. I grabbed the broom and shooed him away. I ran out into the hallway. He seemed possessed! Oh hell no, how can this adorable creature be terrorizing me?

Ripped tights and two puncture wounds on my bloody leg, I knew I had to make a few phone calls. This was before I had a cell phone. I had to call into work and go to the doctor for a tetanus shot. I contacted my husband, Andrew ~ and him being the "cat whisperer" ~ he said, don't go back to the apartment, I'll feed him tonight so you don't have to.

Then I called Joshua's owner. I explained what happened. She was supposed to be home the next evening, but rescheduled to come home earlier in the day. She didn't seem too surprised ~ that should have been a red flag.

That evening Andrew went to feed Joshua, I went along and waited outside in the car. I was so nervous and it was taking too darn long. Just as I was about to go up to the apartment, Andrew came out. Joshua had bombarded him too! The cat ripped though his jeans in the exact same spot on his leg, leaving a wound. This cat was vicious.

The next day owner came home and reimbursed us for our clothes and doctor bills, apologizing profusely. I should have known by all the Band-Aids and Neosporin in the bathroom that Joshua was not a tame cat, he was slightly demonic. Looking back on it, I think he was misunderstood, possibly feral, but she was determined to give him a loving home. Bless her heart.  Evil cats need love too. It took me about a year to get over my fear of cats after this incident. Thank goodness I did, or I wouldn't have my very loving Vicktor and Ginger kitties.

Flash forward to this Christmas. I didn't ask for much, just some new cat ear headbands, but my husband really delivered! So many companies have jumped on the cult cat clothing (say that three times fast) bandwagon and each one brings their own unique flavor to the table. I'm going to list my top three, so you can let your playful wicked cat style strut.

I'm not a name brand snob by any means, I just wear what I like (proof here) and I like things with cats on them. The first brand I ever saw with Satanic cat prints was Killstar. They have been around since 2010. I love the bell sleeves dresses, ruffles, and lace but many of them are impractical for layering in 3 degree weather. Everything would get bulky layered under a sweater, and knowing me, the long drapey sleeves would end up in my soup! That being said, they do have nice going out and /or club clothes and incorporate classic gothic styles like a Wednesday Addams dress with original novelty prints, including cats. They don't seem to take themselves too seriously and that's what makes them fun. i.e. They have a McGoth line! 'Cmon that's pretty funny!

Unlike Killstar, BlackCraft Cult specializes in a more casual style. They offer printed T shirts for men and women, tanks, sweats, leggings, hoodies, and some accessories. I was gifted this Lucipurr Hoodie and I couldn't be happier. It's toasty warm and the print is large, bright, and purrrfect. I may need to collect everything Lucipurr is printed on (and there's a lot)! Plus you can't go wrong with their philosophy, "To be kind to all man and animal kind, and do positive things for others." Just reading their "About Us" page makes me want to support such a admirable company. On a side note: they also sell gore-geous furniture and drinking spirits

Cat Coven is the newest of the creepy cat brands I've been following. The shop began in 2013 and is a little more specific ~ they sell witchy cat print Ts, occult, and feminist Ts for men and women, along with banners and some small accessories. They even sell cat toys!!! How can you not love them?! I received a slouchy Magickal Protection T for Christmas. It's a little wider and looser than I'm used to, but I love the print and it's super soft, so I think it will be great for layering over dresses, doing yoga, over pencil skirts, I even like it with leggings. I was also was given a Cat Coven Pin ~ now I can feel like part of a real cat cult! They even donate portions of their designs to feminist causes. I can't wait to see what they design next!

Shown here: Me wearing the Magickal Protection Slouchy T (Pictured are regular and off the shoulder Flashdance version), Cat Coven Silver PinCreature of the Night Crew Neck, Sassy Kitten Pin, Mini Catnip Pillow

Even Hot Topic which usually only features the lastest craze in movies, geeky toy collections, and current TV shows is on trend with a pentagram cat ear headband! These are the ones I received for Christmas...

They are available here. Their model looks so sad, you can't be sad wearing cat ears! I've decided to buy more cat ears from Hot Topic, the quality is surprisingly really nice for the price.

Everytime I think of a demonic cat I will always think of Joshua, so get out there and dress like the demonic cat you are because all cats need love even the unholy ones. Meow.

Bonus picture of the most angelic cat ever...my Ginger.

Andrew ~ the hubs ~ and I haven't taken a real vacation in about two years, so we planned a getaway for the week of July 4. We've never been to California and always wanted to go. We planned a trip to Los Angeles and Anaheim. Then we heard Cat Con was being held not too far away in Pasadena the same weekend we were going to be in town! What is Cat Con you might ask? Exactly what you think it is! A convention for cat lovers. (Hey, that's me!)

(p.s. I'm wearing a Cats Like Us T shirt that can be found here.)

In it's fifth year, they've helped 500+ cats find their forever homes and donated over $190,000 to cat organizations. There's vendors, meet and greets with celebrity cats, an adoption area, free swag, seminars, and new this year an immersive room! Some of the vendors we already work with through my shop Cats Like Us, but it was nice to meet new ones, meet people we've only communicated with via emails, and see old friends.  As for the meet and greets, I already met Lil Bub in Buffalo, and she's the only cat I ever really wanted to meet. We couldn't adopt a cat because we are traveling (and Ginger and Vicktor wouldn't like a new surprise sibling either). Some of the swag we couldn't take because we were traveling. Um wet cat food would have to go in my liquids baggie in my carry-on luggage and that wasn't going to happen. BUT we did take advantage of the interactive room and all the shopping opportunities!!!

Here's me & Kelly (MsFormaldehyde) I had to buy this kitty headband from her!

So many cat pics everywhere!

The walk-through interactive room was called Purradise City and sponsored by Temptations cat treats.  It was divided up into different themed photo spots with some educational history on cats. It was crowded, but we snuck some shots in!

The vendors were a good combination of things. I didn't see many duplicated products, everyone had a little something different for everyone. Products ranged from things for your cat like litter, food, scratching houses to small etsy shops selling cat jewelry, T shirts, and books. It was great to see them all in one place! I think my haul was substantial.

Cat Headband, blood splattered cat ears & an Amazing Acrocats patch for my jacket.
All from MsFormaldehyde.

Purrl Grey patch from Pink Owlet. I LOVE tea and cats... and horror movies.

We bought a cat card game called Cantankerous Cats along with loose catnip teas for me! AND they threw in a free mousie toy for our cats.

I had to stop at the Cat Coven booth. I bought the leggings to match my T shirt. I've written about them before and have several Ts including last years Halloween limited edition style.

If you're not familiar with Kittees, you should be! I've worked with the owner for years. She made the T on the left and the one on the right is from Arm the Animals. They give back to all kinds of animals and I'm happy to support them. (Also My kitty Ginger has a lot to say about you!)

This event is Purrrfect for any cat lover and I highly recommend it.

Two limited edition cat things coming out on the same day!!!

Cat Coven has been on my radar since Andrew ~ my hubs ~ bought me a cat T and pin from them for Christmas 2017. I love their design style so I signed up for their newsletter. They have some limited edition Halloween things coming out for Pre-order today and a second round in Sept. I hope it includes cardigans! (They debuted cardigans at CatCon LA.) I wanted to share with you what I just purchased...

Trick or Treat Cat T. They have butts on the back!!!
The Pre-order for this T is only going until Aug 29, so grab it today!

I couldn't resist this cute little Bat Witch Pin.

The second thing that perked my cat interest is that Converse is releasing a Hello Kitty line!!! I ended up purchasing the TUK Hello Kitty Mary Janes when they came out, but they were never quite the right fit since I wear a Ladies 7.5M and TUKs only come in whole sizes. I have to stuff them with a giant shoe insert, and put them in the tightest buckle hole and even then they rub on my heel.

I was excited that Converse was taking a go at Hello Kitty. I've worn the same low top all black Converse sneakers for more than half my life! I'm so crazy, I even have a back up pair! I DID notice that since Converse are owned by Nike now (they purchased them in 2003) I had to go down a size. For years was always a mens 5.5, but now I'm a 5, even though it says on their website a 5 is a Ladies 7, so I hope the ones I ordered fit. I'll keep you posted! Without further ado....dun dun dun....

Update: They came in & fit!!!

It's that time of year when my husband Andrew and I meet up with friends for Oinktoberfest BBQ at The Great Pumpkin Farm in Clarence, NY. The weather kept saying it was going to be a little cooler outside and rainy ~ nope! It was perfect weather! If you recall last year it was sweltering. We've met at "noon at the camel" every year for the past seven years and we are already making plans for next year! I'm not sure the camel likes us meeting there...

Here's some pics from the previous years. (I'm missing a picture from 2012.)

2013.

2014.

2018.

So what can you find at the pumpkin farm? We enjoyed the usual: pumpkin beers, BBQ (Although I'm a little disappointed none of the vendors had corn bread), free hay ride, Tilt-a-Whirl, animals, haunted house, tons of pumpkins, and more! I ate my yearly pumpkin donut & cider, along with a cakey pumpkin spice "cookie". We even bought a pumpkin spice cookie to go too!

Goats...

You can shop, or drink & eat at the Witch's Brew Bar & Cafe in the Pumpkin Palace.

(This proves I'm over 21. I know you're shocked.)

So many pumpkins...

(Pumpkin pics from my friend Elizabeth.)

This year I was excited to wear my limited edition Cat Coven T shirt and
Fluffy Black Cat Hair Tie from Krampus Cuties.
(I wrote about ordering the Cat T last month.)

I love scarecrows.

Yes, those are spooky cat butts.

Group photo ~ this time we added Baby Odette!

Jenny & Odette.

Until next year Great Pumpkin Farm! As always you were fun-filled, now I'm ready for a nap. Zzzz
